Revolut is my #1 most recommended app for anyone who regularly travels overseas.
Seriously—if you travel even a couple of times a year, this thing is a no-brainer.
Have you heard of it?
At its core, Revolut is a prepaid debit card (you can get a virtual one, a physical one, or both) that lets you spend money overseas without getting rinsed on hidden fees. No nasty exchange rate markups, no surprise charges every time you tap your card abroad.
That includes ATM withdrawals too, although there is a monthly free withdrawal cap depending on your plan. Still, compared to traditional banks, it’s night and day.
What makes Revolut especially useful is how traveller-friendly it is. You can hold multiple currencies in the app at the same time, exchange money at real exchange rates, and instantly see exactly what you’re spending—no guessing, no “wait until the statement arrives” anxiety.
Here’s what I love about Revolut:
-
Use it overseas and pay no extra fees
You spend in the local currency at the real exchange rate, not some inflated tourist version your bank invents. -
Instant transfers in any currency to other Revolut users
Splitting bills, paying friends, or sending money internationally becomes effortless—and free. -
Invest directly from the app
You can buy stocks, precious metals, or cryptocurrency with a few taps. No separate accounts, no complicated setup. -
No more bank panic when a payment gets blocked
If a payment is declined overseas “for security reasons,” you don’t have to sit on hold for 45 minutes. You just open the app and clear it with one button. -
Ridiculously easy setup
You can open an account directly from your phone in minutes—and the basic account is completely FREE.
For travellers, digital nomads, expats, or anyone sick of being nickel-and-dimed by their bank every time they leave the country, Revolut just works. It’s one of those apps you install once and then wonder how you ever travelled without it.
Anyway, Revolut launched a fat referral bonus recently, so if you’re going to sign up, please use this link!
